We’re excited to see you all tomorrow at the Spot Prawn Festival!

This article contains important information on how to quickly check into the Spot Prawn Boil event and enjoy the rest that the Spot Prawn Festival has to offer.

Tip #1: eat early, then buy prawns

All 900 of our advance tickets are now sold out. Thanks to everyone for their support!

The meal rush peaked last year between noon and 1pm. Arriving early means you taste your spot prawns sooner, and will also let you to get to the dock in good time to buy live spot prawns from Organic Ocean.

The boat comes in at around noon.

If you missed getting an advance ticket, come early—as soon as we open at 11am or perhaps sooner than that. We’ll have ~200 tickets at the door. Door tickets are cash-only and sales begin at 11am. Once we sell out of door tickets, we’ll post up a sign and announce it online. From that point on, only ticketholders have access to the Spot Prawn Boil.

Tip #2: print your Spot Prawn Boil tickets

When you arrive at the festival grounds, look for the entrance booth on the left side of the Wharf. Bring us your printed, paper ticket and we will stamp your hand and direct you to your plate of delicious spot prawns plus fixings.

There is a mobile app available from Eventbrite. If you plan to show your e-ticket using this app or by other electronic means, please note that it will take longer to process your check-in this way.

Tip #3: Drinking beer or wine? Show your photo ID with your ticket

Your hand stamp also grants you access into the drink tent that includes beer and wine samples. Our servers will only pour alcoholic beverages for those with the hand stamp reserved for persons aged 19+.

Have your photo ID ready when you hand in your tickets and we will quickly be able to stamp your hand accordingly.

Tip #4: pick up your souvenirs and new member goodies

If you’ve bought a Souvenir Package or New Member Combo, your goodies will be ready for pick-up at the entrance booth when you show your ticket.

If you’d like to take home more souvenirs, visit our cash-only merchandise booth by the entrance. We’ll have:

  • Festival T-shirts – $20 ($15 for youth)
  • Festival tote bag – $10
  • Prawn Star hats, black – $15
  • Vancouver Cooks 2 cookbook – $15

Grab a tote to hold your live prawns from the dock and get your cookbook autographed on-site by your favourite chefs.

Tip #5: linger for the free activities

Once you’ve eaten and/or purchased your live prawns, please stick around for the other free activities that are part of the Spot Prawn Festival:

  • 6 chefs on stage every 30 minutes from 11am – 3pm, each with a different spot prawn cooking demo
  • Cookbook signings from some of Vancouver’s top chefs
  • Kids’ area brought to you by Ocean Wise
  • live music featuring 4U and Matthew Presidente

Tip #6: win a prize

We will have volunteers mingling with the crowd selling raffle tickets for a special Festival prize: one night’s stay at the historic Rosewood Hotel Georgia plus a seasonal tasting menu for two at Hawksworth Restaurant.

Raffle tickets are $2 for one, $5 for three, and $10 for an arms’ length pull. Have your cash on hand if you want a chance to win!

If you got your tickets in advance, you were also entered to win the Yew Prize for You. Worth over $200+, this prize pack features a $150 gift card to Yew restaurant + bar at The Four Seasons Hotel Vancouver. You’ll also get a bottle of champagne upon your arrival, extra courses care of Chef, and gift backs of homemade preserves and treats for you to take home.

The winners of both prizes will be announced during the Festival.

See you tomorrow at the wharf!
